Welcome to the first Innovation newsletter from Creativesheffield! From time to time we'll send this update out with Innovation and technology business related news, happenings and updates from around the Sheffield City Region.

3SQUARED WOWS APPLE WITH ITS FIRST GAME

Sheffield based software development company 3Squared has seen its first gaming application for the iPhone smash more than 100 downloads per day of the game Finger Ninja. Following the success, Apple spotted the game's potential and featured it on their front page in the "What We're Playing" section of the UK and US iTunes stores, showing that the application has even found favour with company insiders.

The game has rocketed to number 11 in the paid music game chart in the UK store and number 16 in the equivalent US chart.

BEACONS FOR INNOVATION

The Creative Industries Knowledge Transfer Network has a new site called Beacons for Innovation and a blog: Click here for the website. / Click here for the blog. The deadline for submissions for the Yorkshire Innovator Awards 2010 is 2 December so there's still time to put your company forward. Categories include : Innovation in Action Award; Partners in Innovation; Young Innovative Business Award; Sustainable Innovation Award. Click here for more.
