BROMLEY TECHNOLOGY

article image Sheffield Design Showcase - A last minute reminder
11 February, 6pm - University of Sheffield, ICOSS Building

The aim of this event is to bring together the design community in the Sheffield region and to demonstrate the range of creativity, ingenuity and expertise that exists in the sector. The event will include a discussion forum to introduce the concept of a 'Designed In Sheffield' network. For more details here click here.

WINNING THROUGH INNOVATION
article image The Winning through Innovation conference will take place on Thursday 25 February, 8.00am - 1.15pm at Electric Works.  

Business Link are teaming up with Creativesheffield and Pro Sheffield to bring you this conference, which is about 'great ideas, creative thinking and exploiting new and existing opportunities to lead to new or improved ways of running or developing a business.'

The event features a number of industry case studies, presentations from Creativesheffield, Yorkshire Innovation, Sheffield's two Universities, and a key speech from Innovation Consultant Nick Jankel (pictured).  To register click here.
 
SHEFFIELD - CAPITAL OF E-LEARNING

A new report, published by Learning Light, has highlighted Sheffield to be the capital of E-learning in the UK.  The digital and new media industries in the Sheffield region are growing at a faster rate in Sheffield than anywhere else in the UK in terms of specialist companies and new jobs.

Siemens open wind power research centre at University
The pioneering Sheffield-Siemens Wind Power Research Centre, located at the Kroto Innovation Centre, Broad Lane, Sheffield, is expected to employ an estimated 20 people and will focus on developing the most reliable, innovative and efficient wind turbine generators that will be at the forefront of future onshore and offshore wind power systems.

JOBS IN THE RECESSION
article image Rick Weddle, President & CEO of Research Triangle Park and strategic partner of the Creativesheffield Innovation Team addressed three issues before a US Senate subcommittee: What has the US learned from the Recovery Act so far; What's working around the US to create jobs and transform the economy; and what Congress should consider when crafting a new jobs package. His testimony also cited a survey of economic developers recently conducted by IEDC and Development Counsellors International.
